Colten Hayes
Owner/Head Instructor
Colten Hayes brings extensive experience as both a player and coach and is widely recognized for his commitment to player development throughout Alberta. During the 2025–26 season, he worked with numerous minor hockey associations, delivering specialized skills, skating, and player development sessions for organizations including Okotoks Minor Hockey, Cochrane Minor Hockey, Strathmore Minor Hockey, Chestermere Minor Hockey, Vulcan Minor Hockey, Wheatland Minor Hockey, Black Diamond Minor Hockey, Olds Minor Hockey, and many other associations throughout Southern Alberta. As one of the few Hockey Canada Certified Skills Instructors in the Foothills region, Hayes is committed to helping players develop the skills, confidence, and hockey IQ needed to succeed at every level of the game.
Hayes continues to compete at a high level, most recently with the Innisfail Eagles of the North Central Hockey League (NCHL), where he was named the NCHL Defenseman of the Year. He also earned the Innisfail Eagles Defenseman of the Year award and finished as the team's Top Scorer, showcasing his ability to perform at an elite level while continuing to mentor and develop the next generation of players.
A former professional defenseman and forward, Hayes played 235 career games in the ECHL with the Missouri Mavericks, Stockton Thunder, Fort Wayne Komets, Reading Royals, and Alaska Aces. During his professional career, he recorded 87 points, 452 penalty minutes, and a +43 rating. Prior to turning professional, Hayes played in both the BCHL and AJHL with the Langley Chiefs, Drumheller Dragons, and Okotoks Oilers, where he accumulated 104 points and 538 penalty minutes over three seasons. In 2010–11, he became the first player in Okotoks Oilers history to earn the AJHL Defenseman of the Year award.
With nearly 20 years of coaching and instructional experience, Hayes is the owner and operator of Coast2Coast Hockey Development, which he founded in 2015. Through Coast2Coast, he has worked with thousands of athletes ranging from U7 players to junior, collegiate, and professional players, delivering elite instruction focused on skating, skills, hockey IQ, and overall player development.
His coaching resume includes serving as Head Coach and General Manager of the High River Flyers (HJHL), Assistant Coach of the Olds Grizzlys (AJHL), Assistant Coach of the Okotoks Bisons (HJHL), Head Coach of the U18AA Foothills Bisons, where he guided the program to its first winning season in over a decade, and Head Coach of the U13 AA Foothills Bisons. In addition to his team coaching experience, Hayes has become one of Southern Alberta's most sought-after skills instructors, working with players and associations across the province throughout the year.

RHETT KINGSTON
Assistant Instructor
Rhett Kingston’s hockey journey is a testament to dedication, skill, and perseverance. Growing up in Black Diamond and Okotoks, Rhett honed his game in minor hockey before spending four seasons with the prestigious Notre Dame Hounds. His standout performance led him to the BCHL, where he solidified his reputation as a high-impact player. His talent and relentless work ethic earned him an NCAA Division I scholarship to Western Michigan University, where he competed at the highest collegiate level.
Rhett transitioned to professional hockey with the Macon Mayhem in the SPHL and later signed with the Rapid City Rush in the ECHL. After his pro career, he continued his passion for the game by playing senior hockey in Saskatchewan this season.
Beyond his playing career, Rhett is deeply committed to developing the next generation of athletes. As a coach and mentor, he shares his extensive knowledge and experience to help young players refine their skills and elevate their game. Known for his exceptional speed, physicality, and hockey IQ, Rhett emphasizes not only technical development but also the mental and strategic aspects of the game. His ability to connect with players and instill confidence makes him an invaluable asset in shaping future talent.

JESSE LEES
Assistant Instructor
Jesse Lees brings a wealth of high-level playing experience and a deep passion for player development. A Calgary native, Jesse played his minor hockey with the Calgary Northstars before advancing to the WHL, where he spent time with both the Kelowna Rockets and Prince Albert Raiders. His impressive junior career paved the way for a professional stint in the AHL and ECHL, where he continued to develop his game at the highest levels.
Following his pro career, Jesse was recruited to play U SPORTS hockey at Mount Royal University, where he combined his elite playing experience with a commitment to education and leadership. Now, as a senior instructor and coach, Jesse is dedicated to helping the next generation of players refine their skills, develop hockey IQ, and elevate their overall game.
Known for his exceptional defensive play, vision, and ability to teach the intricacies of the game, Jesse is an invaluable mentor to young athletes aspiring to reach the next level. His hands-on approach and ability to connect with players make him a key asset in developing talent both on and off the ice.
